Experimental Allergy Shot Stops Sniffles

But It Won't Be On The Market Anytime Soon

Allergy Graphic SAN FRANCISCO, Posted 3:40 p.m. May 17, 1999 -- There may finally be a way to control allergies without tons of medication.

Researchers in San Francisco and Scandinavia have developed an allergy shot that helps stop the sneezes and sniffles before they start, reported CBS 2 News.

Test results show it cuts symptoms in half, and the need for other medicines by almost two-thirds. According to the television station, the shot doesn't cause any serious side effects.

Government approval is still at least a year or two away.
